  8:00 PM - Wine Tasting 

 A benefit wine tasting featuring the “best of the best” Missouri wines will be part of opening night at the Platte County Fair. The tasting will be held July 20 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Platte Purchase Building on the fairgrounds.  For $15 participants will receive a souvenir wine glass and taste some of the best wines from top wineries throughout the state, as well as visit with their representatives. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Platte County Fair .

 Wineries invited to participate in the event include: Pirtle Winery, Jowler Creek Winery, and Riverwood Winery – all of Platte County , Mo. Others participating from across the state are: Augusta Winery, Montelle Winery, St. James Winery, Adam Puchta Winery, Les Bourgeois Winery, Baltimore Bend Winery, Stonehaus Winery, Inland Sea and Amigoni Estate Urban Winery, Stone Hill Winery, and other fine Missouri wineries.

10:00AM - 2:00pm ~Wine makers / Grape growers workshop
On July 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm,in the Platte Purchase Building on the fairgrounds, the  Platte County University of Missouri Extension Council will conduct an interactive workshop including a field trip on the most profitable methods of growing grapes in Platte County . The information shared in the workshop will be provided or presented by commercial vineyard managers and winemakers, University of Missouri Extension staff and others in the wine industry. Admission to the workshop is $10.

  Topics of the workshop will include: How to grow premium grapes, grapes that wineries are buying, vineyard    practices that produce premium grapes, and where to find the materials, chemicals and equipment needed       for successful grape growing.
